Well, today we had an interesting article which showed a man suing Wal-Mart for damaging their car after and oil change and I had talked with one man who had told me such a horror story. Source: Linton Daily Citizen - Linton,IN,USA http://www.dailycitizen.com/articles/2004/06/11/news/d.txt Well this is the kind of article an independent will hang on the wall and say see, I told you, you get what you pay for, yet I seem to remember visiting many independents and all had similar stories of forgeting to put on an oil drain valve plug and chasing the customer down the street and having to often buy a new motor for them due to oil running out and damage to the engine. I also remember when Jiffy Lube first came on the scene we heard similar stories, well I can tell you with the volume Wal-mart does in oil changes we are seeing very few of these stories if you take into consideration the ratio of vehicles serviced to major screw ups. Surely it happens and it has happened to many an independent and many a Jiffy Lube also, but these types of things in the newspaper may help the independents, but the independents are not without issue or problem either, I would warn the industry on pointing fingers or kettle calling. It can happen to anyone, only one little mistake by the wrong employee and your name is as black as the oil you are discharging.
